Augusto Böhme moves from Selknam to Seattle Seawolves

Augusto Böhme is moving from Chile to play Major League Rugby for the Seattle Seawolves. The move comes ahead of Selknam’s player roster confirmation for the upcoming 2022 Súper Liga Americana de Rugby season.

Böhme is no stranger to North America. He was the starting hooker for Chile in the 2021 test matches against Canada. The matches doubled as Rugby World Cup 2023 qualifiers and saw Los Cóndores defeating Canada for the first time. The results mean that Chile will face the USA in the Americas 2 finals in July 2022 with the winner qualifying for RWC 2023.

The 24-year-old Böhme has 16 test caps for Chile. He is part of what is a young test team; the majority of whom featured for Selknam in SLAR 2021. Böhme was the starting hooker in the team that was eliminated by Peñarol in the Semi Finals.

The Seattle Seawolves will be Böhme’s first foreign club. He will join Los Cóndores teammate, Marcelo Torrealba in the MLR. In addition to facing Canada, Böhme and Torrealba both featured in Chile’s historic series win over Russia in November.

Born and raised in Chile, Böhme is a product of Universitad Catolica in Santiago.
