Stadiums for SLAR 2022

The 2022 Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR) will have matches played at a total of five different venues. They are located in Valparaíso and Santiago (Chile), Asunción and Ciudad del Este (Paraguay), and Montevideo (Uruguay).

SLAR 2022 will begin on Sunday, March 13. The opening fixture will take place at the Estadio Elías Figueroa in Valparaíso, Chile. Peñarol will take on Cobras Brasil XV in the season opener at the venue that overlooks the Pacific Ocean.

Pictured below, the venue has previously hosted SLAR matches and has also played host to home test matches for Chile’s test team, Los Cóndores.

Valparaíso will also host Cafeteros Pro vs Jaguares XV and Selknam vs Olimpia Lions in round one of SLAR 2022. The venue will also play host to the second round off SLAR 2022 fixtures.

Round three of SLAR 2022 will feature matches in both Chile and Paraguay. Pictured below, the Estadio San Carlos de Apoquindo (Universidad Católica), in the national capital of Santiago, will host Selknam vs Los Jaguares XV.

The round will continue with two matches at Héroes de Curupaity in Asunción. The venue is the regular home facility for Paraguay’s test matches. It will play host to SLAR for the first time; an occasion that will also see Paraguay hosting SLAR for the first time.

Pictured below, Héroes de Curupaity will host Cafeteros Pro vs Cobras Brasil XV on Saturday, March 26 and the Olímpia Lions vs Peñarol on Sunday, March 27.

Rounds four and five will be played in the triple border region where Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay meet close to the world famous Iguazu Falls. Ciudad del Este will play host to two rounds of SLAR. One of the matches will be that of Paraguay’s Olímpia Lions vs Brazil’s os Cobras Brasil XV.

Pictured below, the Estadio Antonio Aranda in Ciudad del Este will play host to a total of six SLAR fixtures. The Paraguayan home supporters will have the best possible chance of seeing a win by their team as the matches will be against Os Cobras and Los Cafeteros Pro.

The second half of the regular season will take place in Montevideo. The Estadio Charrúa will host rounds six to ten, doing so between Saturday, April 23 and Sunday, May 10. The Uruguayan capital will also play host to the SLAR Semi Finals and the 2022 SLAR Final.

The Estadio Charrúa is the home of Uruguayan rugby. The venue has played host to some key fixtures for Los Teros. It was where Uruguay defeated Russia to qualify for RWC 2015, where Uruguay defeated Canada to qualify for RWC 2019 and where Uruguay defeated the USA to qualify for RWC 2023.
