Santiago Chocobares scored his first try for Toulouse. The score was in Saturday’s Top 14 match in which Toulouse were beaten 20-15 by Racing 92. Chocobares was one of three Pumas involved in the match. The others were his teammate Juan Cruz Mallía and Racing 92 veteran Juan Imhoff.
Chocobares’ 47th minute try put Toulouse in the lead. It came following a lineout which Toulouse recovered to win. All Black Charlie Faumuina offloaded to the charging Chocobares who scored under the posts.
Chocobares played the match at outside center. He has test starts for Los Pumas at both outside center and inside center. He started at inside center in an impressive test debut against New Zealand in 2020. He set-up an excellent try for Argentina against Wales while playing in the position in July 2021.
Earlier on in the contest an Argentine had already got his name on the score sheet. Juan Cruz Mallía touched down in the try zone for an impressive score following a 22 meter run. He ran around two defenders, one of them being Imhoff.
Mallia was playing in his Pumas position of fullback. His club position has been as a utility. Mallía started at outside center in the 2021 Champions Cup Final and on the wing in the 2021 Top 14 Final. Toulouse won both matches.
