Argentina reach Men’s Semis, Canada to play USA in Málaga

Argentina will face England in the Cup Semi Finals of the men’s draw in Málaga. Los Pumas are the only Americas side to reach the final four, with Canada and the USA both defeated in the Cup Quarter Finals. The North American rivals will now face each other in the 5th Place Semi Final.

It was in fact a losing start to the day for Argentina, with two early tries from captain Kevon Williams leading the Eagles to a one-try victory in the pool stage. They pulled up their socks against Ireland, however, and are now one win away from the Cup Final thanks to doubles from Marcos Moneta and Luciano González Rizzoni.

Canada started smartly with a four-try performance against Wales to close out their pool schedule, Cooper Coats contributing one try and three conversions. They would test South Africa in the Quarter Final but ultimately conceded two second half tries without scoring any points themselves.

The Eagles faced Australia in their Quarter Final match and could not find the inspiration, falling by four tries to one. Jamaica suffered heavy defeats to Spain and Germany and will now face the winner of Kenya and Japan in their final match of the tournament.
