World Sevens Series events in Vancouver and LA postponed

The North American leg of the World Sevens Series has been officially postponed. Vancouver was set to host the first tournament on the February 26-27 weekend and will now shift to April 16-17. Los Angeles will move from March 5-6 to August 27-28.

World Rugby says logistical challenges from the pandemic made it necessary to reschedule the two events. The season has already been affected with some teams – notably New Zealand, Fiji, and Samoa – unable to participate in the opening stops on the 2022 circuit.

Los Angeles will therefore become the final stop of the season and will be played following the Commonwealth Games tournament that is scheduled from July 29-31 in Birmingham, England. Cape Town, South Africa, will then host the Rugby World Cup Sevens from September 9-11.

Both Vancouver and Los Angeles are exclusively men’s tournaments. Langford remains scheduled to host a women’s event on April 30-31.
