Mat Turner back for a 5th season with Seawolves

One of Seattle’s original members is returning for a fifth Major League Rugby campaign. Veteran fullback Mat Turner has re-signed with the Seawolves for the 2022 season.

Turner had been a staple in Seattle’s lineups in each of their first three seasons and took on added responsibility in 2021 as an Assistant Coach in addition to his playing role. Injury limited him to nine appearances on the field bringing his four-year total to 39 MLR caps.

With his 34th birthday fast approaching, Turner looks set to take a step back on the playing side this season. New arrival Duncan Matthews is expected to be the primary occupant of the No15 shirt though Turner remains a high quality alternative when required.
