Legion lands Premiership hooker Matt Moulds

The San Diego Legion have found their replacement for departed hooker Dean Muir. Arriving directly from the English Premiership is Matt Moulds, the 30-year-old New Zealander signing on for the 2022 Major League Rugby season.

Moulds has been a professional since 2013 when he broke into Northland’s senior provincial side. He spent five seasons in Super Rugby starting in 2015 before signing on with Worcester Warriors in the Premiership, and most recently spent time with Gloucester on a short-term contract.

Known for his mobility, Moulds also notably spent time training with the New Zealand Sevens squad though he did not ultimately make a World Series appearance. He joins returning USA international Peter Malcolm and Collegiate Draft pick Thomas Capriotti as options in the No2 shirt for the Legion.
