Jaguares XV with the big name of Ignacio Mendy for SLAR 2022

The first new name can be listed for Jaguares XV in 2022. The 21-year-old Ignacio Mendy will play for the Argentine franchise in this year’s Super Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR). Los Jaguares XV will begin training in Buenos Aires on Monday. A Pleno Rugby report that Mendy will be involved.

It is encouraging news for Argentina. Mendy held down a starting position for Argentina at the Tokyo Olympics. The team made history by winning Bronze Medals. Mendy was subsequently named on Argentina’s roster for the Rugby Championship. He made his test debut against South Africa in Port Elizabeth.

Mendy is to be one of many new players for Los Jaguares. The team will not resemble that which won the 2021 SLAR. The majority of players from the 2021 team have since signed to continue their professional careers in other countries.

The 2022 SLAR will begin on March 05. Los Jaguares XV will open their season against Colombian entrant Los Cafeteros Pro in Paraguay.

Mendy is a product of Los Tilos in La Plata. His natural position is fullback but he was selected to play wing for Los Pumas. He was a stand-out performer for his country at the Junior World Championship before going on to win a medal at the Olympic Games.
