New York signs Samoa World Cup wing Ed Fidow

Rugby New York have signed Samoan international winger Ed Fidow for the 2022 Major League Rugby season. The 28-year-old represented his country at Rugby World Cup 2019 and most recently suited up for the Manawatu Turbos in New Zealand’s National Provincial Championship.

Fidow impressed on the World Sevens Series before getting his first professional deal with Brisbane City in Australia’s National Rugby Championship. He then spent two years in France, first with Bordeaux in the Top 14 and then Pro D2 side Provence. Worcester and the English Premiership came calling after the 2019 tournament in Japan and he signed on for two seasons.

This past July saw Fidow lining up on the wing for Manu Samoa in the World Cup Qualifying series against Tonga. Fellow newcomer Kalolo Tuiloma was on the bench. Returning prop Zak Taulafo was meant to play for the Samoa XV against the Barbarians in November but the game was cancelled.
