San Diego re-signs 2020 draft pick Patrick Madden

San Diego have re-signed 2020 Collegiate Draft pick Patrick Madden for the 2022 Major League Rugby season. The 23-year-old returns for his second season with the club after what has been a unique year for the former Junior All-American.

After coming off the bench late in the game to make his professional debut against LA in April, Madden was handed a surprise start at scrumhalf the following week against the Free Jacks as the Legion dealt with an injury crisis at the position. He would make three further appearances during the season.

Madden would then be selected on the wing for the USA Selects in both games of the Americas Pacific Challenge. Primarily a flyhalf, he has also played fullback for the USA u20 side and should be an understudy to new addition Will Hooley this coming season.
