Seawolves confirm Martin Iosefo signing

Seattle have confirmed the highly anticipated signing of USA Sevens star Martin Iosefo. The 31-year-old Hawaiian joins the club on a two-year deal that runs through the 2023 Major League Rugby season.

Iosefo has established himself as a world class player on the international sevens circuit in recent years. He recently celebrated his 50th World Sevens Series event, having debuted at Dubai in December 2014. Along the way he also featured at the Rio and Tokyo Olympics, and the 2018 Rugby World Cup Sevens.

Though his opportunities in the 15-a-side game have been infrequent, Iosefo has made 9 test appearances for the Eagles. His first cap came against Romania in November 2016, and most recently he earned selection to Rugby World Cup 2019 where he played against England, France, and Argentina.

All of Iosefo’s test starts have come on the wing but Seattle have indicated he will be considered as a center. The Seawolves backline now includes an array of talent with fellow newcomers Juan Mostert, Dan Kriel, Tavite Lopeti, and Duncan Matthews joining the likes of AJ Alatimu, Ross Neal, and Lauina Futi.
