LA re-signs Australian duo Luke Burton and Harrison Goddard

The LA Giltinis have confirmed new contracts for two key players from their title-winning debut season. Utility back Luke Burton and scrumhalf Harrison Goddard return. Both started in the Championship Final win over Rugby ATL this past August.

Burton has signed a two-year deal through the 2023 Major League Rugby season. The 27-year-old was primarily a flyhalf while playing for San Diego, but with LA he was used at inside center and fullback in his 16 appearances. It was in the No15 shirt where he lined up against the Ratlers.

It’s a one-year extension for Goddard, who was the consensus top No9 in the league during the 2021 season. He also played 16 matches and scored 9 tries, joint-3rd on the team along with John Ryberg. At 23 years old Goddard could yet catch the eyes of Super Rugby scouts with another strong year in 2022.
