Luke Campbell and Matthew Gordon re-sign with Old Glory

Canadian international Luke Campbell and Collegiate All-American Matthew Gordon have re-signed with Old Glory DC for the 2022 Major League Rugby season. For both it will be their second year with the club, though their first did not go as planned in 2021.

After skipping out on the 2020 season entirely, Campbell returned to MLR with Old Glory having suited up for the Toronto Arrows in 2019. The 29-year-old played just six games in 2021 before succumbing to injury. Primarily a No8 with Canada and the Arrows, Campbell was used as a blindside flanker by DC.

Gordon was selected in the second round of the 2020 Collegiate Draft but for unknown reasons did not feature at all for Old Glory in 2021. The 25-year-old is also a blindside flanker or No8, though he can also fill in at lock if required. Having arrived from Scotland in early 2017, Gordon should satisfy World Rugby’s 5-year eligibility criteria for the USA ahead of the 2022 season.
