Dylan Audsley opts out of 2022 MLR season

Dylan Audsley will not be playing in the 2022 Major League Rugby season. The USA international and San Diego Legion utility back posted a brief statement on social media.

“After a lot of consideration for my health mentally and physically I’ve made the decision to take extended time away from rugby as I continue to heal from 2 ankle breaks in 3 seasons.”

Audsley was ruled out of Rugby World Cup 2019 after breaking his ankle while playing against the Toronto Arrows. He returned to full fitness in 2020 and started the first five games this past season only to suffer another ankle break against the Utah Warriors in April.

With his 28th birthday approaching in January, there is still time for Audsley to return should he choose to do so. In his four seasons with the Legion he made 26 appearances with starts at center, wing, and fullback. Audsley made his test debut against Canada in 2018 and has 8 Eagles caps to date.
