Auckland fullback Jordan Trainor heads to LA

The LA Giltinis have signed Auckland fullback Jordan Trainor on a one-year deal for the 2022 Major League Rugby season. He is set to fill the No15 shirt for the defending champions following the retirement of Scotland Sevens international Glenn Bryce.

Trainor made his senior provincial debut with Waikato at the age of 19 and was then selected to represent New Zealand at the 2016 World Rugby u20 Championship. In 2017 he signed for Auckland and was part of the Blues squad in Super Rugby through the 2019 season.

With this season’s NPC competition disrupted by the pandemic, Trainor will look to MLR to gain valuable game time before returning to Auckland after the season. He is the fourth player with Super Rugby experience to join the Giltinis in the off-season following front rowers Andrew Tuala and Les Leulua’iali’i-Makin, and center Will Chambers.
