San Diego signs Australian back row Rohan O’Regan

San Diego have confirmed the signing of Australia back row Rohan O’Regan for the 2022 Major League Rugby season. The 27-year-old joins the Legion from Sydney University, where he has captained their 1st grade side since 2018.

O’Regan broke into the Shute Shield in 2015 and that same year played professionally for the Sydney Stars in the National Rugby Championship. He then played two seasons for the NSW Country Eagles before an 8-month spell in England’s RFU Championship with Ealing Trailfinders.

Equally comfortable at blindside flanker or No8, the 6’4″ (1.93m) O’Regan can also fill in at lock if required. He joins Chris Robshaw and Michael Smith as confirmed back row signings for the new season, and reunites with former Sydney Uni Executive General Manager David Haigh in San Diego.
