LA signs Waratahs front rower Andrew Tuala

The LA Giltinis have signed versatile front rower Andrew Tuala on a two-year deal through the 2023 Major League Rugby season. Originally from New Zealand, the 30-year-old has been a resident of Australia since 2013 and has been on the Waratahs roster for the past three years.

At 275lbs (125kg), Tuala is a formidable ball carrier who is equally comfortable at loosehead prop and hooker. He has played Shute Shield rugby for Randwick, West Harbour, Northern Suburbs, and most recently Southern Districts. His professional CV also includes National Rugby Championship stints with the Sydney Rams, Melbourne Rising, and the NSW Country Eagles.

It’s the third new front row signing for LA during the off-season. Canada loosehead Djustice Sears-Duru and former Brumbies tighthead Les Leulua’iali’i-Makin have also arrived on multi-year deals. Returning hooker Lindsey Stevens and tighthead Marco Fepulea’i each recently signed one-year extensions.
