Martinez debuts in Wasps win while Creevy scores two for London Irish

Rodrigo Martínez made his debut for the Wasps today. The Argentine prop was a replacement for the Wasps in their home match against London Irish. The Wasps were 38-30 winners in a contest wherein Agustín Creevy scored two tries.

The win was the fourth of the English Premiership season for the Wasps. The result sees the Midlands-based club moving up to 8th position in the standings. London Irish are one place higher in seventh.

Agustín Creevy’s tries came in the final ten minutes of the first half. Combined they saw London Irish coming back to end the opening half seven points behind.

Creevy was one of three Pumas involved for London Irish. Flanker Juan Martín González, and center Lucio Cinti were replacements. Both González and Cinti debuted for Los Pumas in 2021. The same is true of Martínez.

Creevy has not played for Argentina since RWC 2019. He was overtaken by Julián Montoya at the World Cup and has since fallen out of favor. Mario Ledesma has used La Rochelle hooker Facundo Bosch as the understudy to Montoya.

Montoya was also a try scorer today in the English Premiership. He captained Los Pumas in the test matches involving Cinti, González and Martínez. Bosch, Creevy and Montoya played Super Rugby for Los Jaguares while González played in the Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR) for Los Jaguares and Martínez did so for Paraguayan entrant the Olímpia Lions.
