Brive sign Rodrigo Bruni from 2022-2024

Top 14 club Brive have celebrated Christmas 2021 with the announcement of six new signatures. They are recruitments to join the club next season. Among them is Rodrigo Bruni. The Argentine N8 has signed a two year contract with Brive for the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 seasons.

Bruni was part of the Argentine exodus. He was Los Jaguares starting N8 in the 2020 Super Rugby season. This carried over into the international arena; Bruni started for Los Pumas in the 2020 Tri Nations. This included Argentina’s historic win over New Zealand in Sydney, Australia.

Vannes recruited Bruni in December 2020. The Pro D2 team signed the Tandil forward for the 2020-2021 season. Strong performances saw him signing an extended contract in March. Vannes were on track to earn promotion to the Top 14. The club narrowly missed out.

The-year-old Bruni will not be the only Argentine N8 in the Top 14. Facundo Isa plays for Toulon and Joaquín Oviedo is in his first season with Perpignan.

Bruni is something of a late bloomer having only debuted for Los Pumas in 2018. He worked worked his way to Argentina XV honors with his home club San Luis. Similar to Isa in stature, Bruni is also noted for his powerful ball carrying but is also a capable link man with strong passing skills and decision making.

His move to Brive will see him joining fellow Puma Lucas Paulos. The second-rower has a long-term deal with Brive. The club is also home to 2016 Argentine Olympian, Axel Muller. He is uncapped and may yet play for the USA. Brive is also home the Colombian Andrés Zafra.
