San Diego retains Bjorn Basson for a second year

San Diego have retained the services of Bjorn Basson for the 2022 Major League Rugby season. The Legion have re-signed the former Springbok winger after a strong first year with the club.

Basson arrived from Currie Cup side Griquas ahead of the 2021 season, having previously spent a short time in Russia with Enisei STM. The 34-year-old delivered a team-leading 10 tries in 15 appearances.

The Legion have also formally confirmed the return of Chris Robshaw for the second of his two-year deal. A recurring shoulder injury limited the former England captain to just four appearance in 2021. The 35-year-old flanker had already indicated he would be staying in San Diego on social media.
