The LA Giltinis have re-signed winger Ryan James for the 2022 Major League Rugby season. At the same time the club has confirmed the return of flyhalf Luke Carty for the second year of his contract announced in December 2020. Both players made their international debuts for the USA this past year.
James enjoyed a breakthrough year in his first full season as a professional. The 22-year-old flyer appeared in 15 matches for LA, notably scoring two tries against the Utah Warriors in the Western Conference Final. He made his Eagles debut in the No14 shirt against New Zealand in October.
Carty, 24, also played 15 games after arriving in LA from Irish club Connacht. He largely played a supporting role for first choice No10 Matt Giteau but impressed enough in his six starts to earn Eagles selection on their July overseas tour. By year’s end Carty had won six caps, four of them starts.
