Former Wales prop Aaron Jarvis joins Dallas staff

Former Wales international Aaron Jarvis is set to call time on his professional playing career to take up a coaching position with the Dallas Jackals. The 35-year-old tighthead prop will depart the Dragons after this weekend to make the move to Texas.

Jarvis is originally from Exeter and represented England at u19 level but qualified for Wales through his grandmother. He played 18 tests between 2012 and 2016, winning selection to the 2015 World Cup. After beginning his pro career with Bath, he moved to Ospreys in 2011 and then French Top 14 side Clermont in 2016 before returning to Wales in 2018.

This will be the first senior coaching job for Jarvis though he has worked with the Dragons academy program for the past three years. He will act as an assistant to Head Coach Michael Hodge at Dallas with former England coach Brian Ashton employed as a consultant.

Meanwhile the club have signed two additional players from the American Raptors. Tighthead prop Tommy Madaras and second row Shawn Clark join the team, following lock or blindside flanker Sam Phillips and utility back Campbell Johnstone from the Glendale, Colorado-based side.

Both Madaras, 25, and Clark, 26, were collegiate football players. The latter was a late-season signing by the LA Giltinis in 2021 but did not make a match day appearance. He most recently trained with the Eagles Sevens program but fell out of contention for a spot in Dubai due to injury.
