The Toronto Arrows have announced the signing of winger Dennon Robinson-Bartlett for the 2022 Major League Rugby season. At the same time they have promoted academy winger Brandan Ferguson to the senior side while confirming a contract for 2021 Collegiate Draft pick Sam Mace.
Robinson-Bartlett, who turns 22 in a matter of days, arrives from New Zealand where he made his senior provincial debut with Bay of Plenty in 2019. He was selected to the first ever New Zealand Māori u20 side that same year. This past season he has turned out for club side Tamatea and made four appearances with the Hawke’s Bay Magpies, scoring a try in the Ranfurly Shield win over Ngāti Porou East Coast.
Ferguson, 24, impressed with several strong runs and a try while wearing the No11 shirt for the Arrows XV in their win over the Atlantic Selects in October. He steps up from the Senior Arrows Academy program and Ontario’s Marshall Premiership, where he turns out for the Peterborough Pagans.
Mace was selected in the third round of August’s Draft from the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees. The 23-year-old hooker is originally from Blackpool, England, but moved to Canada in 2010. He has played club rugby for the Kingston Panthers and Bytown Blues, and also appeared against the Atlantic Selects.
