Chance Wenglewski heads to New York from ATL

Rugby New York have confirmed the acquisition of USA international Chance Wenglewski from Rugby ATL. Already confirmed by the Ratlers is utility forward Evan Mintern, who moves in the opposite direction in trade. It’s a return to the Big Apple for Wenglewski, who played three games for the club on loan during the 2019 Major League Rugby season.

Despite being just 24 years old, Wenglewski has already established himself as one of the best front row forwards in MLR. The loosehead prop played all five games for ATL in their inaugural 2020 campaign, and played in 13 this past season with 11 starts. He played both World Cup Qualifiers against Canada but a facial injury ended his test season early.

New York have already confirmed hookers Dylan Fawsitt and Kaleb Geiger, and props Wilton Rebolo and Zak Taulafo for the 2022 campaign. Fijian tighthead Samu Tawake has signed for the Fijian Drua of Super Rugby. James Rochford, Anthony Parry, and Kirk Hamilton were also on New York’s roster in 2021.
