Former Canada coach Francois Ratier joins Arrows staff

The Toronto Arrows have added a second prominent rugby figure to their staff as a coaching consultant. Former Canadian Women’s Head Coach Francois Ratier joins the club officially in January, joining Rob Howley in adding high level expertise to the Major League Rugby side.

Originally from France, Ratier moved to Canada in 2003 after a 10-year playing career as a winger with Angoulême. He took over the Senior Women’s lead role in 2013 and led the team to a World Cup Final the following year. Ratier was then named Interim Head Coach of the Senior Men’s side for the 2016 Americas Rugby Championship, finishing with three wins from five games despite having access to only nine previously capped players.

After a brief spell as the helm of Rugby Canada’s Centralized Development program in Langford, Ratier took over as Technical Director for Rugby Québec in 2018. He announced his resignation from that post earlier this year and was most recently a guest coach for the Arrows in their exhibition game against the Atlantic Selects in October.
