Nate Augspurger has signed on for a fifth season with the San Diego Legion. The 31-year-old scrumhalf has been with the team since their inception with 31 appearances since the inaugural 2018 Major League Rugby campaign, 11 of them as captain.
This past season was one of ups and down for Augspurger. After leading the team out in the season opener against New York he would miss the following three games with injury. He then suffered a broken ankle in his second game back against LA. To his credit Augspurger recovered earlier than expected to play the final three games of the season.
Though it was too late to play in the USA’s mid-year tests against England and Ireland, Augspurger returned to the Eagles squad for the World Cup Qualifiers. He started against New Zealand in October, earning his 31st cap and memorably scoring the USA’s first ever test try against the All Blacks.
