Lock duo Nick Civetta and Charlie Hewitt return for New York

Rugby New York have re-signed second row pair Nick Civetta and Charlie Hewitt for the 2022 Major League Rugby season. Both have represented the USA in recent months with Civetta on test duty with the Eagles and Hewitt traveling to Uruguay with the Selects for the Americas Pacific Challenge.

Civetta is the more experienced of the two at 32 years of age and is also slightly taller at 6’8″ (2.03m). He returned to the USA this past year after a seven-year stint in Europe with clubs in Italy, England, and France. In his first MLR experience he started 10 games, missing others with injury and Eagles duty.

Hewitt is originally from England and played for the national u18 side while in the Worcester Warriors academy program. In 2017 he signed for Houston and spent two seasons in Texas before moving to New York in 2020. The 26-year-0ld, who stands 6’7″ (2.01m), played 15 games this past season as one of three primary lock options along with Nate Brakeley.
