Houston captain Luke Beauchamp moves to Austin

The Austin Gilgronis have acquired Australian flanker Luke Beauchamp for the 2022 Major League Rugby season. He makes the move from the Houston SaberCats, having captained the side during the 2021 campaign following the season-long injury to De Wet Roos.

Beauchamp has been a staple in the SaberCats lineup since his arrival in 2019. Across three seasons he has appeared in 32 of 37 MLR games with his only absences due to injury in 2021. The 29-year-old has played across the back row and occasionally at lock, but is most at home on the blindside flank.

Austin have now added four players in the offseason including scrumhalf Ryan Louwrens, winger Julián Domínguez, and USA Eagles center Marcel Brache. In addition the AG’s selected three players in the 2021 Collegiate Draft – winger Caleb Strum, blindside flanker Asa Carter, and hooker Brandon Asbel.
