Barbarians with two Argentines to face Samoa

The Barbarians take-on Samoa on Saturday in London, England. The international fixture sees the celebrated including players from the world over. Among the names are Argentine players Marcos Moneta and Rodrigo Fernández Criado.

The match will be a first taste of international rugby at this level for both men. Moneta and Fernández Criado are uncapped by Los Pumas. Both were on the roster for the 2021 Rugby Championship and Fernández Craido was also on the roster in 2020.

The call-up for both follows impressive years. Moneta was a stand-out for Argentina in Rugby Sevens. He was short-listed by World Rugby for the Player of the Year award. Argentina’s rich options on the wing saw him watching on from the sidelines. Now he has the chance to play against Samoa and he will do so as a part of the starting line-up.

Fernández Criado impressed for Los Jaguares in 2021. He was a regular for the Argentine franchise in the Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR). The team went undefeated in the season. He was close to getting a call for the July Internationals. He will have a chance against Samoa as a replacement.
