Waratahs hooker Robbie Abel joins Utah as Forwards Coach

The Utah Warriors have found their new Forwards Coach. With Shawn Pittman promoted to full-time Head Coach, the club have added Super Rugby veteran Robbie Abel to their staff for the 2022 Major League Rugby season. He is the older brother of LA Giltinis prop Charlie Abel.

Abel is just 32 years and though the hooker was suiting up for the Waratahs just five months ago, the Warriors have confirmed that he will be focused entirely on coaching at the club. He will be part of a young coaching staff that also includes former Eagles scrumhalf Shaun Davies.

The New Zealander has previously played for the Brumbies and Rebels in Super Rugby and was also contracted to the Western Force. Abel has also played professionally for the Perth Spirit and Canberra Vikings in Australia, and with New Zealand provincial sides Northland and Auckland.
