Dean Muir departs Legion after three years in San Diego

Dean Muir has confirmed his departure from the San Diego Legion after three Major League Rugby campaigns with the club. The 32-year-old hooker has returned to his native South Africa and it’s not yet clear where his professional career will continue.

Since arriving in California ahead of the 2019 season Muir established himself as the first choice No2 at the club. This past year he was appointed vice-captain and made 15 appearances including 11 starts, bringing his San Diego career total to 33 games and 25 starts with 8 tries scored.

The Legion have already confirmed the re-signing of USA international Peter Malcolm for the 2022 season. Chris Schade was signed as a third choice hooker but did not make a regular season appearance in 2021 and has most recently playing for Scioto Valley in Columbus, Ohio.
