Brazil and Colombia qualify for 2022 Rugby Sevens World Cup

Brazil and Colombia will play at the 2022 Rugby Sevens World Cup. The two South American countries earned the right to compete at the tournament in Cape Town, South Africa by finishing first and second in the 2021 Sudamérica Rugby Sevens in Montevideo, Uruguay.

Brazil were tournament champions; an outcome that reaffirms As Yaras as the powerhouses of the Women’s game in South America. They hammered Paraguay 57-0 to win their Semi Final while Colombia reached the final with a nerve-wracking 15-14 victory over Argentina.

Having reached the final meant the job was done for Brazil and Colombia. The Semi Final wins secured the two two spots in Montevideo and thus places at the 2022 Rugby Sevens World Cup. Brazil coasted to a 36-5 win against Las Tucanes to add yet a 20th South American title to their long-list of success.

The 2022 Rugby Sevens World Cup will take place in Cape Town, South Africa from September 09-11 next year. The USA have also already qualified while there remain two spots for North American participants.
