Chile take 28-man roster to Russia

Chile have named a 28-man roster to tour Russia. Los Cóndores will play two test matches away in the world’s largest country this month. The first is scheduled for Saturday, November 20, with a second just six days later on Friday, November 26. Both will take place at Yug Sport Stadium in Sochi.

It will be the second and third tests between the two nations. Their first meeting was played at the neutral venue of Hong Kong during the 2017 Cup of Nations. On that day the Bears were too strong for Los Cóndores, taking a dominant 42-11 result.

The Rugby World Cup 2019 participants are welcome opposition for Chile. Los Cóndores head to Russia on the back of their historic win over Canada. The result combined with the earlier match saw Chile eliminating Canada, based on aggregate, to advance in the RWC 2023 qualifiers. Chile are now officially preparing for the July 2022 series against the USA. The winner of that series will qualify for RWC 2023 as Americas 2.

Chile will be led by flanker Martín Sigren. He has had a highly productive 2021. It has included reaching the Semi Finals of SLAR, narrowing missing out on a RWC qualifying victory over Uruguay and defeating the Argentina XV, Brazil, and Canada.
