Pumas set for changes with Guido Petti out of Italian test

Guido Petti is out of the Italian test match. The Pumas second-rower will miss Saturday’s must-win game in Treviso due to injury. He is recovering from a knock to his knee in this past Saturday’s match against France in Paris. His place in the starting line-up is set to go to Lucas Paulos.

It will be a big opportunity for Paulos. The 23-year-old was left out of the Argentine roster for both the July tour to Romania and Wales, and this year’s Rugby Championship. He will join Tomás Lavanini in the second-row, doing so with Marcos Kremer likely to be the replacement.

Petti is currently being monitored to determine his avaliability for Los Pumas’ final match of the year later this month against Ireland in Dublin. He is one of two premier Pumas second-rowers currently out of action. Matías Alemanno was earlier ruled out of the November Internationals.

Mario Ledesma’s planning sees a heavy second-row in Paulos and Lavanini playing behind an unchanged front-row. The back-row is projected to have one change; Juan Martín González starting and Kremer covering from the bench.

ESPN Scrum is reporting that a third is to come with Facundo Cordero replacing Bautista Delguy on ther wing. This would see Facundo Cordero making his test debut. A final change may come at scrum-half as Tomás Cubelli began training today in the position but Gonzalo Bertranou did so later on in the day’s sessions.

Argentina’s team in training today was:

1 Thomas Gallo, 2 Julián Montoya, 3 Francisco Gómez Kodela, 4 Lucas Paulos, 5 Tomás Lavanini, 6 Pablo Matera, 7 Juan Martín González, 8 Facundo Isa, 9 Tomás Cubelli, 10 Santiago Carreras, 11 Mateo Carreras, 12 Jerónimo de la Fuente, 13 Matías Moroni, 14 Facundo Cordero, 15 Emiliano Boffelli.
