Nahuel Tetaz Chaparro out, Ignacio Calles in for Argentina

Nahuel Tetaz Chaparro is out of the November Internationals. The regular starting Pumas loose head prop was injured in training ahead of Argentina’s test match against France in Paris. He has now dropped out of the roster meaning he will miss the upcoming matches against Italy in Treviso and Ireland in Dublin.

With a player down Mario Ledesma has called-up Ignacio Calles. The 26-year-old will have the opportunity to make his test debut against either Italy or Ireland.It will not be his first taste of represntative honors; Calles has played for Argentina u20s and the Argentina XV.

Ledesma took Calles to Australia for the 2020 Tri Nations. He watched on from the sidelines as Los Pumas defeated New Zealand in Sydney and competed to draws against Australia in Newcastle and Sydney. Tetaz Chaparro started all three test matches with Mayco Vivas featuring from the bench.

Both Tetaz Chaparro and Vivas are out of the ongoing tour to Europe with injuries. Facundo Gigena is also unavailable. Like Tetaz Chaparro, he was on the roster for the tour before being force out through injury.

Calles will join the team in Italy. He will do so for Pau, for whom he made his 50th Top 14 appearance this past weekend. Calles is a product of Los Tardos in Tandil. He also played for Liceo Naval. He started his career as a flanker brefore converting to hooker and then loose head prop.
