Michael Smith re-signs with San Diego Legion

Canadian flanker Michael Smith has signed a one-year extension with the San Diego Legion that sees him returning for the 2022 Major League Rugby season. The 23-year-old notably earned Rookie of the Year honors for the club in his first season as a professional after joining from the UBC Thunderbirds.

A standout as a No8 at the 2018 World Rugby u20 Trophy, Smith has now made the shift to openside flanker and made his test debut as a replacement against against Wales in July. After making just two appearances since he will start for Canada against Portugal on Saturday.
