Arrows scrumhalf Jamie Mackenzie confirms retirement

Toronto Arrows scrumhalf Jamie Mackenzie has confirmed his retirement from professional rugby. The 32-year-old Canadian international was a regular for the club in their first two Major League Rugby campaigns but missed the entirety of the 2021 season with a hip injury.

Mackenzie emerged from the Oakville Crusaders club in Ontario and earned Canada u20 honors before making his senior debut against Belgium in 2010. Injuries would plague his career but he would play 21 tests and earned selection to the 2015 and 2019 World Cups.

Across two seasons with the Arrows he played 10 games including 6 starts. Mackenzie had previously spent two seasons with Esher in England. Older brother Phil Mackenzie won 32 caps for Canada between 2008 and 2016, and notably captained the San Diego Breakers in PRO Rugby.
