The Toronto Arrows have re-signed Canadian international trio Ross Braude, Spencer Jones, and Lucas Rumball for the 2022 Major League Rugby season. All three were part of Canada’s squad during the recent World Cup Qualifiers and are currently on tour in Europe for the tests against Portugal and Belgium.
This past year was Braude’s first with the Arrows. Arriving from South Africa, he quickly established himself as the first choice scrumhalf and made 11 appearances including 10 starts. The 21-year-old made his test debut against Wales and now has six caps for Canada.
Jones made his long-awaited return from injury in the 5th week of the season and would play 9 games, having previously missed the entirety of the 2020 campaign. The 24-year-old inside center suffered another injury in the last game of the season but recovered to earn a starting spot in Canada’s midfield against the USA in September. He had appeared in 16 games in the 2019 campaign.
Like Jones, Rumball returns for a fourth professional campaign with the club. Co-captain alongside Ben LeSage in 2021, the 26-year-old started 13 games and his outstanding form was universally recognized at the season’s end. Rumball has also acted as Canada’s captain this year and now has 41 test caps to go with his 24 MLR appearances.
