Brazil ‘A’ conquer Paraguay ‘A in Americas Pacific Challenge

Brazil ‘A’ conquered Paraguay ‘A’ this afternoon. The fixture was a final round match of the 2021 Americas Pacific Challenge. Played in Montevideo, Uruguay, Brazil ‘A’ were 58-19 winners; a result that sees the Brazilians finishing the tournament with a 2-1 record. Paraguay ‘A’ finish with a 0-3 record.

Paraguay ‘A’ started strongly. Center Gianfranco Parodi broke the line to be the first player to score in the try zone. The 5-0 lead did not last as Brazil ‘A’ found their way into the try zone with ease. First half tries to fly half Lucas Spago, fullback Robson Morais, winger Daniel Lima, and hooker Leonardo de Souza saw Brazil ‘A’ leading 31-5 at the interval.

Play continued to go the way of Brazil ‘A’ in the second half. Center Gabriel Quirino and replacement Alexander Alves both went over while both Spago added to his first half tries to join Morais in scoring doubles in the match. Lima scored twice to complete the match with a hat-trick.

The final score of 58-19 gives the Brazilian selectors plenty to think about. Today’s win follows a good victory against the USA Selects in round two of the tournament. Spago was a stand-out performer in both matches. He created opportunities and scored solo tries.

The roster to tour Africa is due out in the coming days. Brazil will play against Zimbabwe and either Kenya or Namibia in the November Internationals.
