South African flanker Jaco Bezuidenhout signs with Houston

The Houston SaberCats have added another new name to their back row stocks for the 2022 Major League Rugby season. Jaco Bezuidenhout arrives from South Africa having recently made his senior Currie Cup debut for the Blue Bulls.

Bezuidenhout, originally from Durban, was vice-captain of the University of Pretoria Tuks who claimed the Varsity Cup title in June. Equally adept at flanker or No8, the 24-year-old will find a familiar face in Houston having been coached by Pote Human in Blue Bulls age-grade sides.

Previously announced back row signings for the SaberCats include Danny Barrett, Keni Nasoqeqe, and Willie Britz. Also on their way to Texas are Lindenwood University pair Emmanuel Albert and Tinashe Muchena who were selected in the 2021 Collegiate Draft.
