Zach Pangelinan has signed on for a fifth Major League Rugby season with the SaberCats. The 33-year-old USA international is the first ‘original’ Houston player to commit for the 2022 campaign.
Pangelinan captained the SaberCats in the first match of 2021 but injuries would restrict him to 9 appearances over the season. During his 35 MLR games for the club the Guam native holds the unique distinction of having started games at scrumhalf, flyhalf, both wing positions, and fullback.
Only two other members of the 2018 SaberCats roster remain candidates to return in 2022 – flanker Cecil Garber and wing Malacchi Esdale. The latter spent the entire 2021 season with the USA Eagles Sevens program. Flyhalf Sam Windsor has already confirmed his departure.
