Osea Kolinisau to be inducted into World Rugby Hall of Fame

Former Fiji Sevens captain Osea Kolinisau is one of six individuals to be inducted in World Rugby’s Hall of Fame. The 35-year-old will be joined by Kenya’s Humphrey Kayange, New Zealand’s Huriana Manuel-Carpenter, Australian Cheryl McAfee, England’s Will Carling, and Jim Telfer of Scotland.

One of the world’s great international sevens players, Kolinisau led Fiji to back-to-back World Sevens Series titles starting in 2015 and most notably to a Gold Medal performance at the Rio Olympics in 2016. He is his country’s most-capped sevens player and second only to Waisale Serevi in scoring.

At the same time Kolinisau will become the first player in the Hall of Fame to have appeared in Major League Rugby. He played 24 times for the Houston SaberCats from 2018 through 2020, and made two appearances – with two tries – for Old Glory DC during the 2021 campaign.

Further details on the Class of 2021 can be seen here.
