Vannes bolster back-row with Francisco Gorrissen

Francisco Gorrissen will continue his career in France. Vannes have bolstered their back-row with the signing of the Argentine for the 2021-2022 season. The French club finished second in the regular season of the 2020-2021 Pro D2. The club narrowly missed an opportunity of playing for promotion to the Top 14. They were beaten at the death by Biarritz.

Vannes have not started the present season so well. The club are on 9 points after 8 rounds. The long season will no doubt have many twists and turns. Vannes are less than one win behind three different teams. A change in fortune could come with the snap of the fingers. Gorrissen may be part of turning around the slow start.

Gorrissen arrives in France from Buenos Aires. The move comes after he previously played professional rugby in South America. He played Super Rugby for Los Jaguares and Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR) for Los Jaguares XV. He was a champion in the 2021 competition.

His regular position is flanker though he has played N8 for Los Jaguares XV. He is a product of Belgrano Athletic in Buenos Aires. He is 1.91m tall and weighs 106kg.

Gorrissen joins Vannes with three test caps to his name. He made his test debut against Australia in 2020. Fellow Vannes back-rower Rodrigo Bruni also played in that match. The move comes less than a week after fellow Jaguares XV flanker, Juan Martin González signed for London Irish.
