Tuidraki Samusamuvodre has departed Major League Rugby to take up a contract with the Fijian Drua in Super Rugby. The 23-year-old was initially signed by the Dallas Jackals but when they withdrew before the season he instead joined the New England Free Jacks for the second half of the 2021 campaign.
Though signed as a flyhalf or fullback for the Drua, Samusamuvodre made eight appearances on the wing for the Free Jacks. He started the last two games of the season and notably scored the winning try against Rugby ATL in New England’s first game at their new home of Veterans Memorial Stadium in Quincy.
The Drua have now signed up four players who appeared in MLR this past season. Tighthead prop duo Samu Tawake and Manasa Saulo, from Rugby United New York and ATL respectively, and LA Giltinis utility back Serupepeli Vularika have already been confirmed.
