Arrows sign prop Sione Fa’alelei, re-sign Mieres and Wadden

The Toronto Arrows have announced the signing of loosehead prop Sione Fa’alelei for the 2022 Major League Rugby season. In addition, there are new one-year extensions for Uruguayan outside back Gastón Mieres and second row Adrian Wadden.

Fa’alelei is new to MLR and arrives from Eastern Suburbs in Sydney’s Shute Shield competition. The 25-year-old has represented Australia at u20 level and has previously been on the books for the Brumbies in two seasons of Super Rugby, followed by two years in New Zealand’s Mitre 10 Cup with Manawatu.

This will be the fourth season in Toronto for Mieres. Nearing his 32nd birthday, the speedy wing or fullback was recently part of the Teros squad that qualified for Rugby World Cup 2023. He played 13 games his past season for the Arrows and scored five tries.

Wadden joined the team from Leeds Beckett University in England and played a significant role in his first year as a professional. The 24-year-old featured in 14 games with 8 starts as he rotated with returning locks Mike Sheppard and Paul Ciulini.
