Houston signs Keni Nasoqeqe from San Diego

The Houston SaberCats have announced the signing of Keni Nasoqeqe from the San Diego Legion. Originally from Fiji, the 28-year-old second or back row forward qualifies for the USA on residency. The 2022 season will be his fourth in Major League Rugby.

Nasoqeqe has been a standout for the Legion since signing on from Belmont Shore ahead of the 2019 season. He played 12 games for the club this past year with starts at lock, blindside flanker, and his preferred position of No8.

The SaberCats have retooled their loose forward stable during the offseason with all five additions noted as powerful ball carriers. Danny Barrett joins from the Eagles sevens along with former Sunwolves captain Willie Britz, while Emmanuel Albert and Tinashe Muchena were selected in the 2021 Collegiate Draft.
