Jamaica win Rugby Americas North 7s

Jamaica claimed victory at the Rugby Americas North 7s at Meridian Field on the Turks & Caicos island of Providenciales. It’s the third title for the Crocs since 2017, and fourth overall. They finished 2nd in 2019. The 2020 tournament was cancelled.

It was an unbeaten run for the pre-tournament favorites, who conceded only three tries across six games. Mexico would be their opponents in the final but Jamaica outscored their opponents three tries to one.

Las Serpientes ran into tough competition from Barbados on Day One, and from Bermuda on Day Two, beating each by one score margins. It was Barbados who would emerge a third place finishers after a try from Reuben Norville in extra time resigned Bermuda to fourth.

Guyana would have to settle for fifth place, and while international debutantes Belize were in ninth spot they would enjoy a moment of history against the Green Machine. Dayton Warrior scored their first and only try of the tournament on a kick-and-chase from Orlando Castillo.
