Dallas signs prop Alex Tucci from Utah

The Dallas Jackals have confirmed the signing of 29-year-old prop Alex Tucci on a two-year deal through the 2023 Major League Rugby season. He joins the expansion side after spending the past four years in Salt Lake City with the Utah Warriors.

A collegiate football player, Tucci was a back row forward before switching to the front row upon signing for Utah ahead of the inaugural MLR campaign. After starting as a loosehead in 2018 he was backup tighthead in 2019, but then missed the entire 2020 campaign after suffering a serious knee injury.

This past season saw Tucci appearing in 10 games as a replacement while switching back to the loosehead side. A powerful and athletic ball carrier, the 6’3″ (1.90m) New York native will look to compete for a starting role with the Jackals. Dallas have now signed three props including development squad additions Tayé Olagunju and Timothy Ohlwein.
