Uruguay have added a match to their November 2021 European tour. The third fixture will be the second of three matches for Los Teros on the European continent in November. Unlike, the two others the added fixture will be uncapped Uruguay will face Italy A in Padua on Sunday, November 14.

Los Teros’ tour begins on Saturday, November 06. The Rugby World Cup 2023 qualified team will open against Romania in Bucharest. It its to be Uruguay’s first test match since historically claiming the Americas 1 spot at the World Cup. The previous test match between Romania and Uruguay was also historic; Los Teros defeated the Eastern Europeans for the first time.

Uruguay will travel from Bucharest to Italy. The second and third matches will both be played in Northern Italy. The first will be the non-capped international in Padua and the second a fully-capped test match between Italy and Uruguay at Parma. The venue is the home of United Rugby Championship (URC) side Zebre.

Italy and Uruguay will face-each other in Pool A of RWC 2023. The meeting will be the first between the countries at a RWC. The pool also contains France and New Zealand; Los Teros has never played against either team in a test match. The remaining place will go to Africa 1, potentially Namibia who hosted Uruguay for a two-match tour in 2017.

The only previous meeting between Uruguay and Italy was in 2007, with the visitors winning 29-5 at Parque Central in Montevideo. More recently Los Teros defeated Emerging Italy 23-19 in the 2018 Nations Cup, also played in Montevideo but at the Carrasco Polo club.
