Americas Rankings – October 10, 2021

The Americas Rankings is an exclusive on Americas Rugby News. The rankings compare the men’s test teams from throughout the Americas. Matches recognized as caps are used for the rankings. Teams yet to compete since the Americas Rankings began are listed with 30.00 points.

Chile’s historic win over Canada sees a gain in the Americas Rankings. The 33-24 victory takes Chile up to 56.58 points from 55.19. This corresponds to a rise above Brazil to now be ranked 5th in the Americas. Canada’s updated ranking is unchanged in 4th; albeit, the North Americans have fallen from 62.09 to 60.71 points. As such, Canada falls below Hong Kong and Russia in the World Rankings.

Saturday’s second RWC 2023 qualifier saw Uruguay at home to the USA. The match meant 3rd place hosted 2nd in the Americas Rankings and 17th hosted 16th in the World Rankings. Los Teros’ 34-15 win gives Uruguay the maximum points in the rankings exchanges. The 1.272 point change means they trade places in both the Americas Rankings and the World Rankings.

The Americas Rankings will return when international competition resumes. There is no shortage of upcoming international duty involving teams from the Americas. Argentina, Canada, Chile, and Uruguay will all be touring Europe next month while Brazil will tour Africa and the USA will play at home.
